A good friend is going through some stuff. My counsel to this fellow midlifer is to stop being sad and get angry at the situation. Of course, even the most iron-willed among us can still be driven to tears when things don’t go our way, and there is nothing wrong with that. But it seems to me there has to be a time when the tears stop and the resolve to move forward begins.
It’s been my experience, with pretty favorable results, that every now and then you just have to get a little pissed off at a situation first, before you figure out a way to make it better.
To be clear, when I say ‘angry’ I don’t mean blind rage, and please forgive the fictional comic book analogy, but in the Incredible Hulk storyline, you may remember that the Hulk’s strength grew proportionally with his anger.
